My Halloween Costume: Big Boys Bail Bonds Pen!

So if you aren't from the Baltimore, this costume probably looks silly. What's the story behind it? Well in Baltimore the Big Boys Bail Bonds pen (see the handful in my hand) is famous because they are EVERYWHERE; Literally everywhere - almost every restaurant, store, bank, you name it, because that is their entire marketing campaign. No commercials, no ads, just free pens! So I thought it would be clever to dress up as one! I was inspired by the fact that I already owned the yellow sweater from The Gap and the pink shirt! And already owning the shoes too was just the icing on the cake! Just add leggings (that I bought on amazon for $9.99 HERE), some $2.50 yarn from Michael's that I used to knit the hat, and some felt we already had to make the letters and... voila! Simple yet witty and hilarious costume! What were you guys for Halloween  Comment below and let me know! :)

Ultimate Thrift: Wilsons Leather Jacket for Under $50

For the past couple years I have been on a quest for the perfect leather jacket, but something about the features that I wanted made the search ever elusive, and when not elusive completely cost prohibitive! But I have an announcement you guys... I found my dream jacket with all the qualities I wanted... for only $45 at The Wise Penny!!! I nearly died! I would have paid $100 without hesitation even! It is a leather jacket by Wilsons Leather Maxima in a size M, but it fits like a slightly bigger S in my opinion! Based on my perusal of the Wilsons Leather website, this jacket probably cost $500 originally! O.O What. a. fabulous. deal! I LOOOOOVE The Wise Penny! Why do I love this jacket so much? It's real leather (why people pay $60-100 for a faux leather jacket I don't know...), wasn't cropped, wasn't motorcycle style in the belted or asymmetrical zip sense, has a track collar style neck, and is fitted so it's flattering!

Project 10 Pan

By this point in internet history you likely know what a Project 10 Pan is. The short version: a quest to use up 10 specific products. I know I am constantly on a "use everything up" kick, and I know I had a similar project last year (Ahem... unfinished Kill It Quest), but I felt I needed to declare a Project 10 Pan for renewed inspiration to use up some hearty hanging-in-there products that just need to be used and go! What's on the hit list?

1. Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play Hairspray
2. Victoria's Secret Sexy Little Things - Love Rocks Fragrance Spray
3. Designer Imposters Fragrance in Wanna Play?
4. Wet n Wild Cover All Concealer
5. CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in 415
6. Too Faced Mirror Mirror Lip Gloss in I Know You Want Me
7. Mini Sized Urban Decay Primer Potion
8. Bare Minerals Warmth - Starter Kit Size
9. Physician's Formula Healthy Wear Powder Foundation
10. Nivea Sun-Kissed Radiance Skin Gradual Tanner & Daily Lotion

Are any of you guys on a project 10 pan? Comment below with your links or lists and let me know! :)

October Empties

1. Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes
I got this little sample/travel sized one for free in a Target Beauty Bag some time this summer. I have reviewed this product before HERE, and HERE.

2. Fekkai Essential Shea Butter Shampoo & Conditioner Samples
I received these samples in my September Birchbox and I really liked them. If I remember correctly, I liked the conditioner better than the shampoo, but it could have been the other way around (I used them up at the beginning of the month). Would I buy the full size? Probably not since Fekkai is so expensive. Will I hope that one day they show up at TJ Maxx for an amazingly cheap price? Heck yes, because I loved the smell, and I feel like long term results wouldn't be disappointing.

3. Beauty Fixation Makeup Remover
I received these three swabs in my September Birchbox as well and I loved them so much I bought the full size (check out my haul HERE). They are super convenient in quick mornings before work when I make a makeup error that needs to be corrected or else I would look sloby for work. Each swab has just enough fluid that it sin't drippy or anything, but you also don't have to rub and rub to make it work - just a swipe or two and you are ready to go. I find they are perfect for the accidental mascara on the brow bone or eyelid. Buy full size? Already have!

4. Miss Jessie's Quick Curls Sample
I received this in my August Birchbox. I liked it, but I'm not sure if I love it enough to buy it because I feel like other brands can do the same for cheaper. It had a nice smell, and it wasn't really fatal if you over used the product, which is nice. However, I feel like it didn't do miracles for my hair, just de-frizzed a little. The sample size was huge though so that was fantastic, and I have always wanted to try this brand out because I keep hearing about it online.

5. Schick Quattro for Women Razor Blades
I got this from my mom when she stumbled upon them in her stash and she realized she doesn't really use the brand so she doesn't even know how she got them, LOL. Fine by me though since I used the Quattro. However, I did find that I like the sensitive version of this blades, which is what I have always bought myself. It was nice to confirm to myself that the sensitive is indeed better though. These blades are nice, but I am totally a "razor with gel stripe" princess and love a nice gel-y lube-y razor over a simple one like this one. Buy myself? Probably not unless I was desperate because the sensitive ones were out of stock or these were hugely cheaper or something.

6. Nivea Creme Tin
I don't like the smell and the formula is nothing special. The smell reminds me of a hospital, and it moisturizes just as much as you would think a really thick cream would, aka, a little bit greasy. I used this at night for a hand cream as well as an occasional calf, or foot cream. I have a second one of these because I bought them to fulfill a promo deal at Target one time, but I probably wouldn't by them again unless I was similarly trying to fulfill a promo via the cheapest means possible (because these tins are under a dollar if I remember correctly). Buy full size? Nope. Buy the mini again? Not unless it was for other reasons than for wanting the product, haha.

7. Grand Home Furnishings Hand Sanitizer
The size of this hand sanitizer is just plain adorable! And you could actually put it in a nighttime clutch if you wanted because it is so slim. I used this up at work because I now have the inspiration to finally use all my sanitizers that I have seemed to aquire. This one was fine, and it was simple. It lasted a couple days with 4-6 times daily use (my office has a few cold bugs going round so I am now one of those obsessive people haha). Buy again? Can't because I got it for free at a Grand Home Furnishings Store. I doubt they still have them out as I got this a few years ago. I am happy I have a second one though so i can experience the cuteness again! haha.

8. Bath & Body Works I Love Shopping Peach PocketBac
The world wanted me to have this hand sanitizer because I got it for free when I found a coupon for a free hand sanitier just laying around on a shelf in a B&BW one time. Then the "I Love Shopping" name just called to me, and the peach scent was the icing on the cake. Like the other hand sanitizer I used this up at work. And would you believe that this was my first B&BW PocketBac? Needless to say I understand the hype now... scented hand sanitizer is just way more fun and the prices of PocketBacs are always 5 for $5 so I am pretty sure I will be buying more of these super soon!

9. L'Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream
I got this for free when I was at the L'Occitane outlet in Florida (See my haul post HERE). I had always heard about this hand cream being good, and my mom loves L'Occitane, but this is the first time I've ever owned it. I've gotta say, it is just as good as the hype makes it out to be. Its just the right amount of moisture without being greasy, and it always does it's job. I never was much of a hand cream person but now that I have an office job I am washing my hands all the time and there is nothing worse than the feel of dry hands, eww! (well maybe dry feet is worse, haha). This lasted me a bout two and a half weeks use when I used it many times per day at work. Buy full size? Well I have a second one in this size that I got for free with a Facebook promo/coupon, so we'll see if I want to drop the money for it after I used up that one.

10. Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash Sample
I can't remember how I got this sample again, but my opinion hasn't changed since the first time I reviewed it HERE.

11. Simple Soothing Eye Balm
This thing lasted FOREVER! I got this in the beginning of the year and it lasted me until now! WOW! HERE is my previous review of the product itself, which hasn't changed.

12. L'Occitane Precious Eye Balm Sample
This was one of the many L'Occitane samples that my mom gave me that she had been hording for some time. This eye balm just didn't meet my needs after using the Simple Soothing Eye Balm. This one stung my eyes a little bit upon first application, and I didn't notice that it did any better of a job at hydration than the Simple one did. It did have the nice Immortelle scent, but that was about the only thing it had going for it. Buy the full size? Not likely given my experience and I'm sure the price point isn't something I would want to pay for an eye cream at this point any way.

13. L'Occitane Brightening Essence
I liked this product. It was light, smelled nice, and didn't feel sticky or leave a residue. My only problem, that isn't really a problem, is the fact that it was a one time use size. I have not idea if it really brightens my skin after just one use. I would love to try this out but as a L'Occitane serum that costs $56, my purchasing it doesn't seem likely unless I get to try it out for a longer (via a gift set maybe?) and actually think it gives results. I so love the Immortelle scent though and I forgot how much I loved it since I used up my cleanser already.

14. Australian Gold Tan Extender Moisture Lock Moisturizer
I bought this when I was on vacation in Florida while I was getting my tan on. I love the fruity smell, I like the slick texture, and I felt that it did extend my tan. At the very least it was a nice moisturizer because it never felt greasy, it sunk in pretty quick, and it never really left me wanting more. This was my first Australian Gold product and if they are all this good then I understand why the brand is loved so much. Buy again? Definitely!

15. Lush Noubar Soap Sample
I got this as a sample at Lush when I bought a different item. I like the smell ok (it smells strongly of pistachios), but everything else about it wasn't that fabulous. It has these weird chunks in it but I wouldn't say that makes it srubby at all, which it claims it does. It makes you squeaky clean, which some people may like, but I prefer feeling moisturized. It was fun to have the sample, but I know I would never buy it. Still love Lush though! If I wanted a scrub soap I think I would try their Buffy Bar or that other one that is blue and has the sand in it that my Gay BFF swears by.

16. Tretinoin Cream
Another tube down and I am still in love! I found that now that I wash my face morning and night, and continue applying this at night, that my face is doing WAY better than when I was only washing my face at night (thanks Mom for the tip!). I don't wanna jinx myself and say I might be almost clear skin 24/7 until I see the results remain for more than these last couple weeks, but I know that it is significantly better even if I do break out later this month during the "lady time" of the month. Any spots that I have had recently were super small, not really that noticeable and went away after a day or two. The proof? I have been using my Laura Mercier Mineral Powder Foundation at work! My skin is so clear I can get away with it, and I am not reaching for my foundations! I love love love my skin this month :)

17. VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything Cream
I have reviewed this previously HERE.

18. Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Mini
I got this for free via a gift card via the app called Wrapp which legitimately gives you free giftcards to give to friends! I convinced my sister to send me a $5 Sephora one and I went and got this, all I had to pay was the few cents of tax. Woo hoo I love social Media! I have reviewed this product previously HERE and my opinion is still the same. I am contemplating purchasing one of the gift sets for myself so I can try other products by Soap & Glory! :)

Is It Worth The Hype?: NUXE Reve de Miel Lip Balm

After Lisa Eldridge on Youtube said she loved this lip balm it seemed like every UK based Beauty Guru ran out and bought the NUXE Reve de Miel Lip Balm and fell in love. When I saw that this product was being sold at Birchbox I JUMPED on it once I had enough rewards points saved up! (Here is the haul where I first showed this product) But do I think this is worth the hype? I think it kind of is. I understand why people love the texture because it's not greasy, and it doesn't leave your lips shiny. It also is amazing at moisturizing just as Gurus claim. My one hesitation is that sometimes it feels a little heavy, but that could just be me and my application. Therefore, I just use this at night like a super moisturizing treatment for my lips. I saw online that is also comes in the form of a stick lip balm, which I would love to try next!

What about you? Have you tried this product? Do you think it's worth the hype? Let me know in a comment below! :)

What's In My Lipstick Holder

I've always seen youtube girls using adorable lipstick holders/risers but never felt that they were worth the price (sometimes up to $20 depending on where you buy them) and didn't think I would ever want one... until I found this little darling for only $2.99 at my local Tuesday Morning! I nearly did a backflip! If they had had more than one I probably would have bought them all, haha. It wasn't until I finally saw one of these in real life did I understand why people want them... it helps you see your products better. When it comes to all things beauty, and fashion, if I can see all my options better I am more likely to use everything more. It kind of counteracts the "forgot I even owned this" problem that I can sometimes have, and I KNOW I have the problem with lip products because I used to store all my lip products in a tin where they all sat on top of each other causing me to never use any of them! When I bought this holder I decided to just have some of the things I use most, plus some things that I want to use more and leave the rest in my vanity drawer waiting for something to get used up or to be swapped. Genius. I'm in love. Wanna know what everything is? Here is the list!:

1. theBalm Staniac in Beauty Queen (see my haul post HERE)
2. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul
3. Rimmel London 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Spice & Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob
4. Clinique Different Lipstick in Glazed Berry
5. Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in Soft Rose
6. CoverGirl  Lipstick in Smokey Rose
7. CoverGirl Lipstick in Natural Frost
8. CoverGirl Lipstick in Soulmate
9. CoverGirl Lipstick in It's Your Mauve

What's In My Work Purse

Ever wonder what I keep in my work purse? Check out the pictures below for a little look see. I got this Latico leather bag at DSW for $80 (link to the bag online is HERE, and there apparently is a cool woven version too that can be found HERE). It comes in Black and Red as well, but I felt the Brown was more neutral for my own purposes and for some reason the Black just didn't look as high quality to me in person, but maybe you might feel otherwise. The zip is awesome and sturdy too!

What do you keep in your work purse? Comment below and let me know if you think of anything I might enjoy having in my purse too!

Review: Trilogy Certifed Organic Rosehip Oil

About 2 weeks ago I contacted Beautorium.com to see if they would let me try out the #1 selling item: Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil. One of the owners of the site (Hi Barry!) was super kind to let me have the product so I could tell you guys about it! Now that I have had a good amount of time to try it out I feel comfortable giving my review for you all

PROS
  • Doesn't leave skin feeling greasy if you use the recommended amount for application, which is only 2-3 tiny drops! This bottle will last forever!
  • Certified Organic, which is AWESOME because I know there are a lot of people out there that find this quality very, very important! It also isn't tested on animals! Another thing I know is very important to a lot of people. (FUN FACT: Everything, that's right, EVERYTHING on the Beautorium website is not tested on animals, and is cruelty-free!)
  • Excellent moisture without weighing down, or competing with other products in your routine. I also use a rx retinol, eye cream, and a moisturizer with SPF and have never had a problem with this oil competing.
  • Claims to help with fine lines and skin discoloration!
CONS
  • I think one could easily end up with a greasy result if you are over eager and use more than the recommended 2-3 drops. Also, if you have oily skin naturally you make want to stick to 2 drops because 3 may be too much. I have combination skin that tends to stick to dry-normal, but I could see oil being a problem if you are naturally more oily than I.
  • I haven't seen fine line or acne spot improvement yet, but I've only used this product for about 2 weeks. I am sure, given that this product is hugely popular in other countries, that people see results but it's definitely one of those products you have to be patient with.
VERDICT
  • I recommend this! I really like this product, and even if you are on the fence about purchasing it the fact that the bottle is probably last 6 months to a year based on the rate that I've used it so far, it is totally worth trying out!
  • REMEMBER! The code "GIRLGOTGLITTER" (not case sensitive) will get you 15% off until Novemeber 5th! Why hesitate when you can apply that 15% off on to the 20ml size that is already only $24 at full price.
  • Here are images and direct links to the product on the Beautorium website!

Is It Worth The Hype?: Laura Mercier Mineral Powder

I don't know if you guys noticed, but I noticed these past couple months that the Beauty Gurus of Youtube have been OBSESSED with the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder. So many of the Gurus that I trust and relate to love the foundation that I felt inspired to try it myself. I first started with a sample from Sephora that lasted me about 2 weeks (you can go into Sephora and ask for a sample of anything, even a powder! They have sample containers that they can tap the product into for you. I totally recommend trying before buying, plus you can get  a color match done while you are there too). Well, I was in love with it at first use! I loved it so much that I just couldn't go on without it after my sample ran out! I was then on the hunt. I knew that you could get the product at Sephora but me being me, I was out for a deal! Not even thinking I would get a deal at Amazon because a lot of Sephora sold products on Amazon are really sold by Sephora through Amazon so they are never on sale, I decided to check Amazon anyway. Low and behold it was actually on Amazon for less than the retail price and had free shipping! Gold mine! As you might know the product usually costs $36. As you might also know, prices on Amazon.com fluctuate and if you are patient you can usually get the product for even less than what you originally found on Amazon because sellers and Amazon are constantly adjusting prices... well I nearly died of excitement when after a couple weeks of stalking this product on Amazon the price dropped to $27.59!! This coupled with the fact that I had earned $30 worth of Amazon credit through various online means/programs (like Crowdtap, Wishwall, and Shark Surveys) meant that I got the product for FREE!! What's better than that right?

What about you guys? Have you tried this product yet? Have you fallen in love with it too? Maybe you don't understand the hype and dislike the product? Let me know your experiences in a comment below! :)

Products I've Hit Pan On

I don't know if it's normal, but I have phases where I am almost obsessed with looking at other people's "Products I've Hit Pan On" videos and blog posts. When I was using my Stila Kitten Eyeshadow this morning I saw the glimmer of pan, and was inspired to make my own products I've hit pan on video. I know I have plenty of empties posts, but I haven't had enough "panned" products to really justify making a post until now! Yippie! I am so proud of myself :) Here is a list of all the products:
1. Inglot Pearl 402 Shadow
2. Physicians Formula Healthy Wear Powder Foundation in Translucent Light
3. Stila Eye Shadow In Kitten
4. SEPHORA COLLECTION Colorful Mono Eyeshadow in Peach Beige (Deluxe Sample Size)
5. Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette - Beethoven Shadow in Tequila

Have you hit pan on anything recently? Comment below and let me know! :)

Look What I Made: Hand Warmers

Remember my yarn haul? Well here is what I knit with the Shalimar Yarns Missy Bulky! Hand warmers. I didn't take me very long, just a few nights of knitting while watching tv. I forgot how gratifying it is to knit with chunky yarn because your projects get done before you know it! Why haven't I knit a chunky sweater??

So what do you guys think? Love? Hate? Knit a similar pair? Comment below and let me know :)

My Holy Grail Planner

Who likes organization? This chick! You guys probably don't know this about me, but I am obsessed with having a planner and having everything written down in it. I know it seems "old school" for some people, especially post-college and in iphone world, but I still love having a planner and I thought I would let you guys know what my holy grail planner is! Depicted above is the Moleskine 2013 18 Month Weekly Notebook Planner Black Hard Cover Large and the Moleskine 2013 18 Month Weekly Notebook Planner Horizontal Black Soft Cover Pocket. This is the third time that I have purchased the large hardcover size (first time in my senior year of college, second time in my final year of law school, and third time just this last month), and the first time I have purchase the pocket size. I bought the large sized one for all of my regular life and work needs, but the pocket one is dedicated entirely for GirlGotGlitter related things! (Hint: zoom in and you can get a sneak peek at my ideas for the rest of the week's Blog-tober-fest posts!).

What about you guys? Do you have a holy grail planner? Other holy grail office supplies? Let me know with a comment below! :)

Work Fashion

So I recently got my first paid law job (STOKED!) and thought it might be fun to do a work fashion post. I never really worked in a business corporate casual environment for 5 days a week (my internships were only a few days a week) so now I find myself trying to come up with new and fun uses for my work wardrobe. Before I always had certain go to looks, but now since I work every day I am trying new combinations. Here are some pictures of some of my favorite outfits from the past week or two. Let me know which are your favorites in a comment below!

(A close up of my favorite earrings)

Again, sorry about the super amazing bathroom background! It has the best lighting in my parents house!

Products I Regret Buying - Fashion Edition!

I stumbled upon a new idea on Youtube the other day... a video about products you regret buying, but instead of the usual beauty and hair products etc. it was all clothing! I thought I would give this a whirl myself and maybe do a couple posts about the concept. Here is my first post, and it is, apparently, tops I regret buying

1. Merona V-Neck from Target
I don't know why I bought this really. The coral color is just a weird color and it doesn't work well for anyone. The material is nice (I have another in this style in a mint green color), but just not worth it given the weird color. I guess I got caught up in the coral trend? I dunno.

2. American Eagle Puffy Vest from TJ Maxx
I remember that this was a good deal, and it is very warm and does everything it is supposed to do... but the color! Oh man was I ahead of my time, I bought this 3 years ago before "neon" was even a thing and I haven't really worn it many times because the neon-ness makes me self conscious! Maybe I'll get more wear out of it this fall and winter since "neon" as so in this summer, but I don't know... I love puffy vests, but I think I need one in a neutral color, not neon yellow.

3. Edge Sweater from Marshalls
While I don't regret the money spent on the purchase it was free because I won a gift card in a blog contest so spent no money out of pocket on it (see my haul post HERE for more info), I still regret it because I could have gotten something else with that gift card amount. I loved this at first but I think I was really just in love with the idea of this sweater, not the actual execution. I bought it with the idea that I would wear it a lot this past spring and summer but I've only worn it a handful of times. Ugh! Maybe I can find a way to style it that will make me like it better. If you have any ideas let me know!

4. "Extinction is For Ever" Mighty Fine T Shirt from Hot Topic
I remember that I got this super on sale ages ago for like $5. I bought it in college, and in college I had a huge thing for dinosaurs. However this is a size XS when really I needed a S, but, of course, there was no S left on the sale rack so I tried to justify the smaller size by the price, thinking I could get away with the small fit. I have worn it, but it was all in college when super tight tops were my thing. The one thing that always bothered me though was that the length was so short that it was almost crop-top worthy. Unluckily crop-tops were definitely not in when I was in college, and dinos & crop tops are for sure not a law school & when would I wear this as a "real" adult? Hence my regret and dilemma. This is probably headed for my "to ebay" pile since I have tried to tell myself I would wear it for too long and just haven't. (Plus I'm on a quest to not really wear or buy graphic t shirts anymore).

5. Degas Ballet Dancer T Shirt from The Baltimore Museum of Art
You probably don't know, but I was an art major in college, and drawing is my medium, and I love Degas. Knowing all that now, you probably understand why I purchased this shirt. However I regret it because 1. the museum shop price which was like $20-$30. 2. The fabric is so thin you'd have to wear something under it, which I despise doing for t shirts. 3. The "looks like 2 shirts but isn't" style is SOOO middle school boy-ish in my opinion. I liked that style as a kid, but its literally impossible to pull of as an adult. Degas shirt, I WISH I could wear you but your quality is disappointing and I wish I could have known that when I bought you, but the BMA doesn't have fitting rooms!

6. American Eagle Navy Striped V Neck T from TJ Maxx
I have a thing for American Eagle via TJ Maxx if you can't tell. Maybe it's the price that just lures me to impulsely buy AEO that isn't 100% my style or fit because the low price "justifies" it and that there is a fear that if I don't buy it then and there then the item will be gone if I come back another day? I've gotta stop doing that to myself, but I think I am a lot better at now then when I bought both of the AEO pieces in this post because I got both of them 2-3 years ago. What I regret about this is the sizing/cut of the top. I don't mind the stripes and style, and I don't mind that it is a little thin, what I hate is that this is a S, something that should fit me perfectly, but I feel like I am always fighting with the V neck to get it to sit right and not expose my bra. A simple looking shirt should be simple to wear! Not this one though... I always wear some kind of camisole underneath just to be safe, but I hate that I have to do that because V neck is so my style and the camisole ruins that effect. This is also a candidate for my "to ebay" pile, but it'll probably get to live in my closet for a little while longer until I feel 100% defeated.

So what do you guys think of this kind of post? Want to see more? I could do a post on bottoms, jewlery, shoes, etc. Let me know! :)
