Beauty New Years Resolutions

It's almost new years, yay! And with new years, everyone knows, comes new years resolutions! I usually only make one specific personal resolution that I don't tell anyone, and also make resolutions throughout the year, but I thought this year it would be fun to have a couple beauty resolutions! Here is what I decided on:

1. I will not buy an eye shadow pallet unless I hit pan on two more shadows in my Kat Von D pallet (for a total of 4). I am thinking I will be able to at least accomplish this with the silver shade. The 2nd shade will be a tougher commitment. Perhaps I can find a way to make the matte brown work for me that doesn't take a huge amount of time.

2. Finish my Kill It! quest in its entirety. The BE Warmth and my Kat Von D pallet will take some commitment and will be the last ones I finish. I am seeing some progress with the bronzer, though it is slow. Kat Von D is showing a slight dip in the silver color so I'll just have to make sure to continue to use it!

3. Decrease my stash value to under $800 via using up things and cheaper and better replacements. Next semester I will essentially be living without parent help until after school so this may just happen out of necessity and I am ok with that. If anyone has any drugstore loves they would like to recommend please pass them along!

What are your new years resolutions? Any beauty related ones?

Vacation Sunblock Haul

So I had to buy new sunblock because I used up the one I was using before by Banana Boat. This conveniently happened the day before I decided to drive down to Cocoa Beach, FL and have a surf lesson so I decided to just buy a new one when I got there. I meant to buy something that the beloved Ron Jon but I actually am glad that I decided to wait until I checked out the Cocoa Beach Surf Company's store because I found this brand Sun Bum there that wasn't at Ron Jon! I will admit that what drew me to the products were the awesome monkeys. I didn't even plan to buy the chapstick but when I saw the chapstick by the register and saw that the monkey face was on the cap of the chapstick, I had to have it so I bought it to. What I came to realize later (while reading the product labels while sunbathing) was that the sunblock (but not the chapstick) is Paraben free AND is a local product made at Cocoa Beach, FL! I am a sucker for local brands, and I just find it hilarious that even without consciously doing it I was able to buy a local branded sunblock. Now that I know it is a local brand, I will be sure to buy more if it the next time I am in Cocoa Beach!

Mini Review: I like this Sun Bum block better than the Banana Boat Dry Oil block I was using before, both are SPF 15, which I use when I tan so I don't burn. Sun Bum feels lighter on the skin and doesn't have the obnoxious banana coconut smell that Banana Boat has (though I do enjoy that scent ever now at then). It has, perhaps, a subtle scent but I have never noticed it. Also, I like that this product looks less oily on your skin. The BB Dry Oil is a LOT less oily looking that their regular block that isn't the "Dry Oil" tanning type, but is still oily compared to Sun Bum. The chapstick is nice because it has spf 30 in it! I also enjoy its strange juicy fruit-like flavor, haha. It is almost a oily application though because it goes on lightly, almost like how pure coconut oil feels.

What about you guys? Have you ever heard of or used Sun Bum products? Have any cool local-to-you favorites that I should try if I ever pass through your town? Comment bellow and let me know!

Purge 8

1. L'Occitane Shea Butter Verbena Soap (Not Pictured)
I love this soap. I smell is divine and subtle without being too subtle. I did find that once winter came alone that it dried out my hands a little, but that could be a combination of things really. I originally got this as a Christmas gift last year and only a few months ago got around to finally using it! I have another soap like this but in another scent that I don't think I'll enjoy as much, oh well. I would buy these though because they last forever! I hope I get more for Christmas O:)

2. Lush Solid Shampoo Bar in Karma Komba (Not Pictured)
Eh, this was ok. I didn't particularly enjoy the smell, which was annoying because it definitely lingers after you style your hair. I do like the concept of these solid shampoo bars and I used up another one before back in college (I actually bought this one at the same time as that so this one has been sitting around my parent's house for FAR too long, hence why I decided to use it up.) I think I'd consider buying a solid shampoo bar again but then again, I'm not sure because I feel like I used this up pretty quickly. BUT there is a honeysuckle one... so perhaps I'll buy that one in the spring? O:)

3. Befine Lip Serum Deluxe Sample
I got this in my October birchbox and I LOOOVE it. It pretty much cured my terrible chapped lips, so I'm quite bummed that I am through with it. It has a create taste and a great smell, and I love the serum consistency to it. I think I might actually buy the full size of it if I truly miss it. Thank you birchbox :)

4. Laura Geller Spackle Tinted Under Make-Up Primer in Bronze Deluxe Sample
Before I got this in my October birchbox I had never worn a primer before. Because I was semi forced to use one, I actually learned I like primers! I don't know the point of this being tinted because I didn't notice anything different about my foundation, but the primer aspect was good. I don't know if I would buy this exact primer in full size but I know I am not adverse to primers now and will no longer flee from Sephora primer samples, haha.

5. Klorane Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover with Cornflower Water
For a review of this product check here.

6. 3D Crest White Whitestrips in Advanced Vivid Sample
I got this when I bought my tooth paste. I have tried these strips before (from other free samples from toothpaste haha), and generally I like how they whiten. However, they taste funky while you wear them and they do cause some tooth sensitivity for me. Also, if the strip sits on my gums, it kind of burns :( But, it does have the redeeming quality that there is a noticeable difference in the whiteness of my teeth even with one strip. I'm not sure if I would buy these at full price because they are quite pricey, but I do enjoy getting a free strip with my toothpaste and the time frame that goes along with getting them that way works for me.

7. Victoria's Secret Girls' Night Sheer Fragrance Mist
LOVE, TRUE LOVE. Be an this fragrance may get married one day. Haha. Seriously though, this is the only fragrance I have ever loved this much. I loved it so much that I bought the accompanying scrub, body wash, as well as a backup of the mist! And I have NEVER repurchased a fragrance in my life! Sadly this was discontinued at VS :(  We'll see how true this fragrance and I's relationship truly is when I use up the full backup I have of it and see if I resort to ebay to get another one, haha.

8. Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Humidity Smoothing Milk
Woo hoo another hair product down! Still plenty more to go though -_-. However, deciding to use this up made me realize how much I actually love this product! I love the smell, and I swear there is no way to over use this product because I have never had that too-much-product gross feeling ever with this product and I have been quite generous in application before haha. I love how makes my hair feel after a blow dry, as well as the fresh smell and light feel to my hair when I air dry my hair. I have another formula in this line to get through, so we'll see which I like better. I really think I will repurchase this after my hair quest though because it is great and  inexpensive! Win win! :)

Blue Birchbox Nails

I don't think I ever owned blue nail polish in my life until this year when Birchbox sent me two different blue polishes! And, as life would have it, I wore them both at the same time! Haha. A girl from no blue polish to blue polish mania! I waited to try these both out until after my internship was complete because I didn't feel they were work appropriate colors. Now that I am on vacation and in Florida I knew the colors would be appropriate and feel right at home! Haha

On my fingers is Incoco Nail Polish Appliques in an unnamed super sparkley light blue color (it reminds me of the litter mermaid, haha). I received these in my September Birchbox. For more info see here. I found these appliques semi-easy to apply once I got the hang of it. Because my nails are short I was able to cut each applique in half! Now I have 2 manicures worth of this polish! Yay :) Maybe I'll save the last one for Spring Break?

On my toes is Zoya Nail Polish in Noel. I received this in my November Birchbox. For more info see here. I really like the application of this polish as it is nice with one coat but gets even better with a second coat. I also love the little sample size bottle because I know I would probably never use up a full sized bottle in this color! Haha. The only polishes I have every used up were strengtheners, and one Walmart (Ice brand?) nail polish in a thin iridescent white color (these supplemented by the couple polishes over the years that killed themselves via spilling and drying out, O:) )

I apologize if the picture isn't the best because it was with my phone because I forgot to bring my camera on vacation, oops!

What are you guys wearing on your nails? Do you have an colors that you feel are better suited for vacation or certain events/locations? Comment below! :)

No pierced ears? No problem!

I witnessed something amazing today. So, I didn't have pierced ears until I was 18 and could sign for them myself, so I spent many years lamenting over all the cute earrings I couldn't wear and just hated all of the clip on ones I ever saw for sale. I wish I had known about the idea I saw today then! If you don't have pierced ears and know the feeling I am talking about then read on because do I have an earth shattering idea for YOU!

Voila! Hook your earrings to your head scarf and its like you have pierced ears! I saw this amazing concept on a Muslim woman walking down the street. I don't know if she did it because she didn't have pierced ears (because it is more likely that she hooked them on the scarf because she is required to wear the scarf over her whole head including here ears) but I thought it was an amazing idea for both those girls and women who wear headscarves and those that don't have pieced ears.

What do you think? A good idea? Would you rock it? Let me know below!

42 Questions Tag

I'm pretty sure this is a suuuper old tag because I stumbled upon it by accident on a blog written in 2010. The writer tagged everyone who was reading it so I decided that that counts as me! The person who tagged me/where I found out about this tag was here.

And now... on to the questions!

1)How many times do you wash your face daily?
Once. I wash my face at night either before bed or in the shower.

2)What skin type do you have?
I'd say combination. I have an oily t-zone and cheeks but also have dry patches around my nose.

3)What is your current facial wash?
Garnier the Expert Exfoliator Daily Exfoliating Gel.

4)Do you exfoliate?
Currently I use an exfoliating cleanser. I plan on using a cream based cleanser next so I'm not sure if I will continue to exfoliate after this product is done.

5)What brand do you use?
Garnier. <3

6)What moisturiser do you use?
I am currently using a mixture of Garnier Moisture Rescue Lightweight UV-Lotion SPF 15 and the Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Corrector.

7)Do you have freckles?
Yep! :)

8)Do you use eye cream?
Nope. But I am thinking of starting to use one because my eyes have been feeling kind of dry lately. Does anyone have any suggestions?

9)Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Yes I do and I have struggled with it for quite some time until recently. My skin is significantly less acne prone now that a dermatologist prescribed a retinol which has been doing wonders for me. :)

10)Did you ever have to use Pro-Activ?
Nope, but considered it a few times.

11)What foundation do you use?
Covergirl Natureluxe Silk Foundation and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.

12)How about concealer?
Nope. I like to leave my blemishes alone as much as possible.

13)Do you know your undertone colour?
Mmm not really.

14)What do you think of fake eyelashes?
Cute for special occasions, otherwise says way too much. I have never worn them however.

15)Did you know you were supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes, but I don't do it. I have never had anything bad happen to me as a result (knock on wood) and prefer to use up a product in its entirety.

16)What brand of mascara do you use?
Working threw some samples right now; a Sephora brand one and a Clinique one.

17)Sephora or Mac?
SEPHORA!

18)Do you have a Mac Pro card?
Nope.

19)What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?
I use my fingers for my foundation usually and then brushes for everything else.

20)Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?
I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance as an eye primer and have been for quite some time.

21)For the face?
I have been using Laura Geller's Spackle in Bronze as a makeup base since I got it in a birchbox but I had never used a face primer before then.

22)What is your favourite eyeshadow?colour or shade?
I love peachy pinks like Stila Kitten as well as lighter taupes like one I have from Inglot.

23)Do you use pencil or liquid liner?
Nope. I own a few but only use them on special occasions.

24)How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
Haha, never. Now mascara... that's a different question... ;)

25)What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
Like the idea since you tend to get a lot of product but I am way to clumsy for the idea. Loose powder foundation and bronzer is as brave as I'll go and I am trying to get rid of that bronzer! haha

26)Do you use mineral makeup?
Yes, I have Bareminerals Matte

27)What is your favourite lipstick?
Clinique Glazed Berry.

28How about lipgloss?
None. I hate lipglosses and am currently only wearing them because I accumulated them in sets and am trying to use them up.

29)What is your favourite blush to use?
I'm not really much of a blush user. However I did get a cute little sample size of Benefit Coralista and I do enjoy that one!

30)Do you buy your makeup on Ebay?
Nope, but I would consider it in the event of a repurchase.

31)Do you like drugstore makeup?
Yeppers! While there is a difference between drugstore and high-end makeup, I think each has their place in everyone's collection.

32)Do you go to CCO's (Cosmetic Company Outlet)?
I have never been but I have been dying to go to one ever since I learned about it!

33)Did you ever consider taking makeup classes?
Nope. Not unless YouTube counts.

34)Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
Not usually. When I am it usually involved mascara.

35)Name a makeup crime that you hate?
When your foundation obviously doesn't match your skin tone. Ewwy! If its a slight difference I don't really care but when it is super obvious...

36)Do you like colourful shades of makeup (lipstick or eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
Neutral all the way! I'm only daring with nailpolish. Unless of course I am attending a costume/theme party, then I'll go for something bold.

37)Which celebrity always has great makeup?
Hmm I dunno... I never thought about it in relation to a particular celebrity.

38)If you could leave the house using just ONE makeup item, what would you use?
If chapstick doesn't count... then my Wet n' Wild Shadow in Brule. I don't like the way my eyes look naturally without a little bit of Brule all over the lid and brow bone.

39)Could you leave the house without any makeup on?
Sure! But I think putting on makeup is fun so I like to wear it on a daily basis.

40)Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
Sure :) Add just a touch of powder and I can even forget about wanting to have makeup on. But I'm not afraid to leave the house without makeup on.

41)In your opinion what is the BEST makeup line?
As a line as a whole? Probably Urban Decay, even thought I don't own much by that brand. Or Chanel :)

42)What do you think of makeup?
I think its fun! And I like to learn about it and try new things when I can. However I don't think its necessary, more of just a fun hobby and think that women should be comfortable not wearing makeup even if they choose to. Just as long as it remains a choice I think its fun and great! :)

Purge 7

1. LaROCCA Skincare Champagne & Shimmer Body Polish
For a review of this product click here.

2. Coach Poppy Flower
I am really considering buying this perfume because I LOVE it. It has all of what I love about the original Coach Poppy and adds all of what I thought was missing: floral notes. Plus, it has amazing staying power: when I was sampling this at the counter I accidentally sprayed my sweater rather than my arm (oopsie!) and it STILL smells like it and its been at least a week! Bangin'! The only thing holding me back is the price right now so I am going to wait until I either use up all my body sprays or I find an amazing deal on it

3. ELF Tone Correcting Powder
I enjoyed this, though it isn't AMAZING or anything. I like that it is super cheap ($3!) and is a pressed white setting powder. Loose powders have been annoying me the past year so this was a nice break. I think I may buy this again after I use up the loose powders (especially the one on my hit list) and a different pressed powder I have.

4. Aussie Aussome Volume Shampoo
This was alright. I liked the smell, the consistency and everything but I didn't think it was stellar or life changing or anything. I think I'm going to try out a few more shampoos in the same price range next instead of this one again.

5. Aussie Aussome Volume Conditioner
I liked this a lot better than the Shampoo. This is a thin/lightweight conditioner which I love for my hair! I also love the smell. I do feel like I may use more of it than other conditioners because of its lightness but my hair never looks too weighed down. I may buy this again after sampling a few more conditioners but this is definitely on the short list! I am now trying out the 3 minute miracle deep conditioner by Aussie however, and that may be giving this Volume Conditioner a run for its money so we shall see!

Black Friday Haul!

1. Feather Tshit from American Eagle
I can never have too make feather themed shirts (shh, this is my third one!) and, bonus, this one has sparkles!

2. Blue V-neck Cabled Sweater from American Eagle
I really wanted something is cobalt blue. I wouldn't say this is a perfect cobalt blue, its a little subdued from true cobalt blue, but its super comfy, quite blue and fits so cutely! Move over old dingle white cabled sweater from Hollister that don't fit right, there is a new sweater in town!

3. Garage Bow Belts
Woo! I love these. The buckles have adorable little gold bows on them and they are 100% real leather. Can't wait to wear these

4. Yellow Knit Sweater from The Gap
Me and this sweater have been having a long distance love affair for a few weeks. This first time I ever saw it in Gap on the maniquin it spoke me. In fact, it professed its love for me but I tried to ignore its call by not trying it on because I knew I probably shouldn't buy a $50 sweater so I gave it the "if you are still thinking about it later then buy it" test. Well I've been still thinking about, and when I saw that it was 40% off I did not hesitate to purchase it. Finally we are together! :P

And get this: This entire purchase, at all three stores, was 40% off! Black friday is totally worth it if you can get things on sale that you were planing to buy at full price! :)

Did you get anything fabulous this Black Friday that you are just DYING to brag about? Let me know in the comments below :P

Madden Girl Shoes!

Eeek! I'm so proud to report my new pair of shoes! I first learned of these from Elle Fowler on Youtube because she had the black pair of these a good while back. I thought about buying a pair then but then waited too long and Zappos.com no longer had them so I admitted defeat. THEN! Oh yes, then, I unespectadly stumbled upon them at DSW today! And some how miraculously convinced my mother to buy them for me. Woo hoo new shoes! woo hoo free shoes! Happy early christmas to me! :)

My favorite part is how they can be buckled down when you fold them down! Something the knock offs never seemed to have and would annoy me. And BONUS, they have a zipper in the back so you don't have to tie them every time you wear them! I think I'm going to have a long love affair with these shoes. And I added insoles to them so they are going to be even more comfy and amazing.

What do you guys think? Does anyone else own them? Ideas for how to style them? Comment below! :P

Purge 6

1. Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Bamboo Pink
I loved that this sample size was easy to use up, haha. If I were into lip gloss I think I would feel less regret about buying this kind because I would actually feel like I am getting my moneys worth since I would be able to finish them before they got funky. I probably won't repurchase though because I'm not wild and crazy about lip glosses and if this is worn without a balm underneath it is super stick (though quite delightful with a balm!). I would enjoy receiving this as a gift or as a gift with purchase though! Also... go me for finishing another lip gloss!

2. Victoria's Secret Sheer Fragrance Mist in At First Sight
Click here to see my review for this product.

3. Josie Maran Argan Oil 15ml
When I first bought this product last Christmas in a set last year I wasn't too keen on the idea of this product. Thus, it sat in my cabinet for quite some time. Once I decided to use this daily as a moisturizer it was used up in no time and I learned that I kind of love the product! You would think an oil would be too much as a moisturizer but my skin just soaked it up and loved it. It's expensive as a full size so I am going to hold off buying it for a while, but I'll keep my eye out for sets that come with this!

4. Boots Extracts Almost Body Scrub
Not that scrub-y. Easy to overuse. Scrub-ers were always left on the bottom of the tub afterwards which was annoying. Won't buy again.

5. Nivea A Kiss of Smoothness Hydrating Lip Care SPF 4
I liked this but didn't love it. I was happy to see it go because I had a suspicion that this balm was actually drying my lips a little bit.

6. Pangea Organics Facial Cream for Normal to Combination Skin: Nigerian Ginger with Lavender & Thyme
I HATED this product. Hated the smell, didn't like the consistency, and I didn't feel like it really moisturized at all. I actually started using this as a hand and foot cream just to use it up.

7. Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream
I actually loved this. At first I was suspicious because it was a cream scrub and it kinda left a kind of film after I washed it off. But I actually liked that about it because it seemed to moisturize my skin. I think I might actually buy this or the Ahava cream cleanser I tried before.

8. Calvin Klein Shock for Her Perfume Sample
Liked it, didn't love it. Would buy this if it came in a cheaper body spray version. I loved how it smelled refreshing but sweet and feminine. However because it was refreshing I wanted to spray it multiple times, which can be accidentally overpowering since this is a perfume, haha.

9. Dior Miss Dior Cherie Perfume Sample
I like this, and maybe kind of love it. However I smelled a drugstore dupe of this perfume that I like better because it takes out the musk that is in the Dior perfume so I think I am going to buy that one after I use up my other body sprays.

Do you Pinterest?

You probably noticed my "Follow Me on Pinterest" button in my "About Me!" side bar. I just discovered the site Pinterest.com through one of BentlyBlonde's videos and I've gotta say, I am just as hooked as she is! Its kind of like Tumblr except more visually appealing and you can categorize your posts. The way that it is visually set up is also amazing: like scrapbook, except you don't have to organize it yourself. I supposed the best way to describe it is kind of like a visual "feed" because you can also look at other Pinterest
"pins" and "boards" through your own feed.

It only took about a day to be approved for the cite so don't worry if you sign up and it says you are on the waiting list, because I didn't have to wait long!

The only draw back, which I can appreciate as a lawyer, is that sometimes your "pins" may not always post your picture if you are trying to post it from certain sites. I assume this is because those website do not allow hyper-linking of their pictures, and there for are trying to protect their copyrights. While Pinterest can arguable be "fair use" I'd say it dances on either side of the line depending on how users use their pins. So, smart on Pinterest's part if they are trying to stay out of legal trouble with this!

Also, are you a Google Chrome user? And you can't use that quick and easy book mark Pinterest offers to make "pinning" easy? Search Pinterest in the Google app store, there is a free Pinterest button! I've been using it and it makes "pinning" even easier and fun!

Do you Pinterest? Comment below with your Pinterest link and I'll check out your boards! :)

November Birchbox

Yay my November Birchbox! Happy birthday to meeee!
Don't know what Birchbox is? Or wanna join? Click Here

1. Klorane Soothing Eye Makeup Remover with Cornflower
I'm not one to use makeup remover often as I only really need it if I wear eyeliner and that is a rare occasion. However, I did test this out on my regular makeup and it seems to be quite nice! No really residue left over after that I noticed; eyes didn't feel dry or anything either. I did find that while this product claims to be sensitive safe, if you over use the product it can still sting your eyes. And by over use I mean knocking the container over on the counter so feeling I had to use what I had knocked over which was way too much. haha. If I were an everyday eye makeup remover user I think I would definitely consider purchasing this. And I dunno what the birchbox people are talking about, I think it smells weird haha.

2. LaROCCA Skincare Champagne & Shimmer Body Polish
Hardly has any scrub too it. Feels like sugar and petroleum jelly. It reminds me of the body scrubs from The Body Shop but even oilier. I like the body show scrubs because it has a good scrub to it but at the same time leaves you quite moisturized because it is as if there is a layer of oil oil left over after you are done. This LaROCCA though was just TOO moisturizing and I just didn't feel clean afterwards. Plus I didn't like the champagne smell at all and didn't notice anything shimmery about this product. Not worth the price of the gold inside.

3. Oscar Blandi Jasmine Protein Mist
I like the smell of this product but that is about it. I don't really think this product does much. I have been using it as a pre-blowdrying spray and I don't notice any result different than my regular Heat Tamer spray. Wouldn't repurchase. I do enjoy how forceful the spray is though!

4. Zoya Nail Polish in Noel
A lovely mermaid-y color. I don't consider this a holiday color at all but I do enjoy it. Some how the shimmer is silver without detracting from the teal base. Much more interesting than a predictable blue reflect. I dunno if I would repurchase it because I have never repurchased any nail polish, but I wouldn't be against the idea at this point if I were to run out some how. Looks adorable on toes! :P

5. TREAT Chuao Chocolatier Firecracker Chocopod
I loved the idea of this. The sensations were quite interesting but I don't think I would like to repeat it. The chipotle feature was what turned me off. It was an interesting zing and I appreciate the creativity. However I think I would have enjoyed trying their potato chip one better.

6. PRIZE BaubleBar Black Wood Pop Bracelet
I'm not really sure how I feel about this yet. I like it. I might wear it every now and then. However I feel like the price is steep given that as long as I could track down the sparkle-y bead, I could make these myself. If I could sell mine for $20 and people bought them I'd be rich!

As I get an opinion/use up these products I will update this post with reviews of them.

Also, I appologize for not posting an October Birchbox blog. I was super busy (lame excuse I know). However, as I use up each product you can check out my review of them in the Purge Posts that they fall in. Click Here, and Here for reviews of October Birchbox items. I will update this post when I review the last two items from that box.

What did you get? Leave a comment below and let me know! :)

Free Haul!

Here is a small haul for you guys! Don't worry. I didn't break my spending ban because I got all this stuff free as either gifts, or a gift from a store for my birthday :)

1. Vera Bradly Large Cosmetic Bag in Happy Snails. Normally $29.00, got it free because Smyth Jewelers sent me a $25 of a $25 purchase voucher for my birthday, yippie! And then today, and today only, was the Vera Bradly "trunk show" at Smyth Jewelers (which I didn't even know til I got there) so it was 20% off! Cha-ching!

2. Vera Bradly Tape Measure in Tea Garden. Normally $7.50, got it free because I was one of the first 75 customers to make a VB purchase so I got it free!

3. Philosophy 3 in 1 in Vanilla Birthday Cake. Free because it is the Sephora  Beauty Insider birthday gift this year.

4. Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream samples in #13 and #15. Free because a super nice associate at Sephora said I could have samples. Yay! I have always wanted to try these but $22 is expensive and I didn't realize you could ask for samples of cream eye shadows until I saw this youtube video.

6. Two adorable Neiman Marcus Polo Shirts. Normally $75.00 each, free for me because my Grandmother sent them to me! She bought them for herself and then decided she didn't like them because the sleeves are cap sleeves which are, apparently, not her style. Normally my Grandmother's fashion is outrageous and NOT my style at all, but miraculously these are ADORABLE and fit me perfectly! Super Cha-ching!!

Purge 5

1. Secret Smooth Effects Deodorant in Smooth Powder
Hated the smell! I usually get the wildflower one but when I was out of deodorant this was the only scent they had! I like that it is a "conditioning solid" so it isn't the normal stick. This kind dispenses like gel deodorants. Didn't really have many white streaks problems except when I put on shirts right after applying this, then I got the classic white streak on the bottom of my shirt. My next deodorant that I am using is a Mineral Solid, so its supposed to help with your odors better some how. It isn't natural in any way because it still has aluminum. If anyone has any tips for deodorants that don't give you white streaks when putting on shirts I would love the recommendation!

2. Blistex Five Star Lip Protection SPF 30
Hated this! Hated every second of the damn thing! I bought this because it sounded amazing, but it turned out to be just aweful. It made my lips look pale and gross, if my lips were actually chapped this made it sting,  it went on thick in a bad way, and the smell annoyed me. Won't repurchase, ever.

3. Living Proof Straight Styling Spray
I LOVE THIS! If I didn't have so many hair products to work though, I'd go out and buy this right now! This is the smaller size, but when I re-buy I will be going all out for the big one without regrets! This spray, while not making my hair pin straight (which I don't want anyway), make blow drying so much easier because I got the look of a full straight style without having to use a round brush. SCORE! It does smell awful when you are using it and can make you cough, but I love it so much it is so worth it. (Hopefully inhaling it isn't giving me cancer or something though...) Plus, even for a little bottle this lasted me quite a while (a few months).

4. Sephora Lip Gloss in Bronzed Beauty
See this previous post for a review of this product

5. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Fast Absorbing Hand Cream
Kinda greasy for something that is supposed to be "fast absorbing." I also feel that it didn't really moisturize that well. I used a different version of this hand cream before and didn't have any problems so maybe I'll try that other one again some time after I used up the giant bottle of lotion I am working through.

6. Bath and Body Works Secret Wonderland Bubble Bath
I love B&B bubble baths because they are always the right amount of bubbles and scent. Wish they were a little cheaper, but I'm willing to deal with the price. I did enjoy this scent even though it isn't one I would normally reach for based on description alone, but I'm glad I bought it. Probably won't be in the market for bubble bath for a while but when I am, I'll likely turn to B&B works, and maybe this scent (though Country Chic is pretty amazing!)

7. Burberry Body Eau de Parfum Sample
For something that got a lot of marketing, this is rather generic and ordinary smelling to me. It kinda smells like a cliche "adult" perfume with no real personality to it. It was nice, but didn't have remarkable staying power and, really I just expected more out of it. Won't repurchase, won't even repurchase a dupe. Did appreciate that it was a spray vial though!

8. Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner Sample
Hated this. Made my hair feel dirty and just gross after using. Maybe I used to much of the product due to the influence of the size of the sample, but I also didn't notice anything different moisture-wise even with possible over-use of the product. Won't buy, and makes me think less of Ouidad

9. L'Occitane Pivoine Flora Eau De Parfum Sample
What can I say, I love peony perfume and this is practically straight up peony so of course I loved it. I dunno if I'll buy the product if only because I have 1/3 of my Victoria's Secret Girl's Night body spray left as well as a back up one. Maybe when I used that up, and if L'Occitane's perfume is still on the market, I will buy it. I would LOVE receiving it as a gift though! I know there is just the loveliest bar of soap made with this perfume too.

10. L'Occitane Pivoine Flora Eau De Parfum Sample
Eh. It was nice. Maybe it was because this sample was pretty dried out by the time I used it (have had it sitting around in my drawers for quite some time), but it didn't wow me. But I also did like it. If I came across this product in a set, or in another form like soap or lotion I think I would enjoy it more. But, as a perfume I don't think I'd buy it.

Stash Insurance

I got to thinking... if there was such a thing as stash insurance and I therefore had to declare the worth of my beauty stash... what would it be actually worth? So I decided to create a list of everything and their prices (excluding sample things and things so old I have no idea how to figure out their prices). When I make additions to my stash (after my Kill It Quest of course) or use up things I will update this list and its value.

All I can say is WOW. Who knew it was worth THAT much!! Of course a lot of things were bought on sale, or came free with things, or I had a coupon so I didn't spend the total amount, but I probably did spend  around that much over time. Crazy!!

What is your makeup worth? Comment below! :)

New Watch

I finally got a new watch after months of watch browsing with a Boy who is a watch nerd. During the summer I was lusting over a Kennith Cole Watch because I loved how it reminded me of Cadillac's. Then I liked the idea of a rose gold watch but Michael Kors watches, while fabulous, where just too big and boyfriend-y. There was a beautiful little Rolex that I LOVED but it was way out of my price range (one day little Rolex we will be reunited!). I also adore the idea of a red gold watch but the only ones I liked we Mont Blanc ones that were also way out of price range.

But this weekend I finally settled and actually bought a watch, AND it was 25% off! My coupon-er heart sang because for the price of the watch at full price I was able to get the watch plus some damage insurance. Yippie! Good deals and insurance against my clumsiness! Also, it has "Eco Drive" which means no batteries AND no real maintenance because there are hardly any moving parts (aka Winding Movement). Plus, and I find this fascinating  while it is solar, it can actually charge with artificial lighting, cool huh? Now to just get a solar cell phone and I'd be super happy :)

Here is what I came home with: The Citizen Ladies Eco-Drive Dress Watch Stainless Steel Black Face

My favorite feature? The hour markers are metal and cut such a way so it reflects light! All the glitz of diamonds or CZs without the price or gaudiness! (though, of course, I love gaudiness just not in a watch)

Sorry the picture isn't the greatest, my camera is biting the dust, and as you might tell, it didn't start off as a super duper camera because I got it in 2006! It was so cutting edge this its pixel count then though!

"It" Boots!

I have two pairs of fall/spring boots that adore. They are short as I do not like the riding boot trend (and don't get me started on "Chelsea" boots) or really the Ugg-y trend.

The first pair I bought my 1L year after a long boot quest. I had never owned heeled boots before then and I was on a hunt for a pair that "spoke to me." After must despair at not being able to find a pair I liked I wandered into Payless because I figured it couldn't hurt and there these boots were! The moment I saw them I knew I had to have them! It was amazing how drawn to these boots I was because I had never felt this way about a pair of shoes before. I could have bought them without trying them on I loved them so much (but of course I tried them on and then fell even more in love because they were comfortable!). You know what else is amazing? I STILL get compliments on these boots 2 seasons later and people are always surprised when I say I got them from Payless! The price was also good too because I think they were even on sale at the time. It was a match made in heaven!

I bought this pair of Fossil boots at TJ Maxx, so they were a super good deal! I payed $30-$40 dollars for them and Fossil boots tend to run about $150-$200!! I couldn't believe it when I saw them, it was also love at first sight like my Payless Boots. I remember finding the boots, debating on whether the splurge was worth it, and decide that they world could decide because the first pair that I found were a half size off of what I usually wear so I made a deal with the world: if there was another pair in the size that I wanted I would buy them, no hesitation. Well, around the corner there was a second pair in the size that I wanted! They were the only two in the whole store. It was destiny, I bought them without hesitation.

After these two loves I have vowed that the rest of my shoe buying should be of the same degree of love for the shoe because then I won't regret the purchase. So far this has resulted in my not buying any new shoes since the Fossil boots (which super helps the wallet!) but seem to have given my style a sense of refinement as now I want to buy things that are truly my style, not what I think will "look good" or is "in."

Do you have any shoes that just "spoke to you" when you set eyes on them and have been in love with them ever since?

Purge 4

1. Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Therapy Collection: La Source Hand Therapy Sample
I liked this hand lotion. It was thick but not heavy and had a nice smell. Wasn't wowed so probably wouldn't purchase it but I would enjoy getting it as a gift or buying it with a gift card if for some reason someone gave me a Crabtree & Evelyn giftcard, haha.

2. Ahava The Source: Cleansing Cream Deluxe Sample
Love love loooove this face wash. It was the first time in a long time that I had a face wash that actually made my face feel moisturized afterwards. I am really considering buying the full size of this product after I use up my other face washes. BTW I got this in my October Birchbox

3. Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser Sample
Hated this with a passion. Hated the consistency, I hated the way it felt on my skin the moment I put it there. I couldn't even stand lathering this on my face. This was a decent sized sample but I actually hated it so much that I didn't use up even the sample amount! So glad I didn't buy this the one time I thought about buying it haha.

7. Liv Grn Earth Eau de Parfum Sample

8. Dove Rebalance Plum & Sakura Blossom Body Mist Sample
Refreshing scent. I like it. Just do not love it so probably wouldn't buy it. Plus it is a rather "in your face" "smell it before I see you" scents and I like things that are more subtle.

9. Orofluido Elixer
I loved the smell of this product, which I find surprising because usually vanilla bothers me. Haha. I also loved how this oil never felt heavy in my hands or in my hair, which is kind of magical because that made it literally impossible to use too much! I'd consider buying it but I think its too expensive for something that I half love for the smell and half love for its actions. I'd rather spend $30 on something that I only love for its actions.

10. Victoria's Secret Girls' Night Daily Body Wash
Loved this body wash and the small bottle actually lasted me for forever! As per my discussions about this scent before, I love the scent spray. This body wash is kind of a more peony heavy version of the body spray (while the body scrub seems more waterlily heavy). I'd probably repurchase this but it was a scent that was discontinued.

11. Bath and Body Works Country Chic Supercharged Body Scrub
I'm not sure what makes this scrub "supercharged" but I think it is super! The scrub to it is just the perfect amount of scrubbiness without being harsh. I also thought the scent was divine - kind of like a lemon-y hollister scent! Next time I'm in B&B and I've earned the right to buy a body spray (haha) I think this one will be a good contender for being chosen (so long as it is still around by that time haha)!

Purge 3

I killed more things!

1. Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo & Conditioner
I liked this shampoo and conditioner set. The smell was nice the result were nice, but I wouldn't say there is anything spectacular about it. Not super moisturizing, but, does maintain your current moisture decently well. Probably won't buy again, but if it was on sale or something I might, just won't go out of my way for it or anything.

2. Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Hairspray
For a review, see this previous post

3. Clean & Clear Morning Burst Skin Brightening Facial Scrub
For a review, see this previous post

4. Gold Bond Ultimate Hand Sanitizer Moisturizer
Hate the smell so much I would never buy this again. I don't know why I was possessed to buy it in the first place when I should have known it would have the traditional Gold Bond green beans smell, haha. Take away the smell and it is OK at moisturizing and sanitizing.

5. Walgreens Brand Hydrocortisone with Aloe
I know this is probably a weird item to have on a beauty blog, but I am so proud of finishing it! Haha. I have had this tube for far to long and wanted to finish it and not throw it away even though I have another tube of cortisone. I did it!! Haha, I thought it would be impossible. I'd buy this again, but I am not ranking this as a "green" rated item because I don't think any cortisone product really works better than any other one unless its like prescription strength or something.

6. The Laundress Delicate Wash Sample
I got this in my October birchbox and used it with a small load of bras. It's fine I guess, cleaned them. But I'm not one to really care about the soap I use to wash my bras because (may this is gross) but I don't was them super often, haha. The smell is nice, and it did it's job, but because of the price I don't think I'd ever buy it. The brand does make a wool soap, and because wool is something that you need to be very careful about what soap you use, that may actually be worth buying. I was kinda hoping my sample would be for that, but I was sent the delicates one. Maybe I'll get the wool one in a future birchbox, haha. :)

Review: Clean & Clear Morning Burst Skin Brightening Facial Scrub

Clean & Clear Morning Burst Skin Brightening Facial Scrub

WHY: So I bought this scrub because I saw it mentioned in a video on The YouTube and it sounded like something I would enjoy because of the skin brightening aspect of it. At the time that I bought this scrub I also bought the same face wash but the non-scruby version. I eventually returned that face wash because I remembered how I disliked Clean & Clear face washes that aren't the scrubby kind (like the shine control cleanser).

PROS: Awesome smell, good scrub to it without being harsh (I hate super scrubby things like St Ives and Befine), didn't make my face less bright at least, possibly made it brighter but can't really decide though because I started using a retnoid which really brightened my skin and, in my opinion, because the C&C is a face wash, it doesn't stay on your skin long enough to have the lemon do anything brightening-wise.

CONS: Not super brightening, the scrubby particles are like plastic (I prefer the kind that is basically part of the cleanser and then breakdown and disappear, no bad things washing down the drain), parabens

CONCLUSION: I like this product because the face washing experience is enjoyable due to the smell and the texture. Obviously I liked it for its cleansing power too because I used this whole container! But since the skin brightening aspect of the wash is kind of a no show, I am not going to rebuy this product right away as I would like to explore some new cleansers and return to my old favorite to see how I like it now that I have tries some other face washes.

Have you tried this face wash? What did you think? Did it brighten your skin at all?

Purge 2

Here are some more products that I have used up recently!

1. Spring Valley Hair, Skin & Nails Biotin/Collagen/Gelatin Supplement
For review see this previous post.

2. Boscia Pore Purifying Black Strips
I love this product! While it is more expensive than a drug store Biore-like pore strip, the price difference makes a huge difference in results. These Boscia strips really grabbed onto the gunk in my pores and have made them look the best they have looked ever! Following these strips with a face mask and I managed to actually make my pores on the side of my nose less noticeable (though the retnoid that I was prescribed made them practically disappear) which I think is amazing! I would re-buy these but at this time I am putting it off due to the retnoid cream I am using. I am considering buying the peel off face mask though! Given the success of these strips I think I would also like the peel off mask. Has anyone tried the mask?

3. Garnier Nutritioniste Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream
This was actually my second contain of this face gel. I LOVED the first container but some how once I was about halfway through this one I got bored. I loved the texture and the smell (garnier really needs to sell a body spray of the scent of their products!) and felt that it helped me to retain moisture. However I don't think this gel actually GIVES you any moisture, just helps you retain what you have. Also, I found that if you have a dry area of your face that is dry enough to flake, this gel didn't help that and that area would actually sting. So, pros and cons. I could see this gel being highly loved by oily skin users! With my combination skin, parts of my face loved it and parts hated it. I bought the SPF cream version from this line thinking I would like it more since it should sting less. When I form a full opinion on that product I will review it here

4. Chap Ice Lip Balm
I got this chap stick for free at my school during finals week (we have random acts of kindness during finals and one of the days was chap stick day). I love it in the sense that it feels like a stick of petroleum; I hate it in the sense that it goes through itself rather fast since it tends to go on your lips thickly. I probably wouldn't buy this, but I would enjoy getting it for free again. It did get me through so hard chapped lip times haha.

5. Befine Night Cream
For review see this previous post.

6. Kate Spade Twirl Perfume
For review see this previous post.

7. Liftlab Lift & Fix High Potency Solution
For review see this previous post.

8. Degree Nature Effects Honeysuckle + Tea Tree Oil Body Mist
For review see this previous post.

9. Nexxus ProMend Split End Binding Targeted Leave-In Treatment
For review see this previous post.

10. BareVitamins Skin Rev-er Upper
This was my second bottle of this product. I first received this product when I got my Bare Minerals starter kit a while back. I neglected the product at first because I didn't know what it was for but then I started using it because I figured using it up was better than throwing it away. After I started using it as a moisturizer I realised the wonders it was doing for my skin. This plus a regular face washing routine made my face so much clearer than it has ever been! Because of this I bought the 2nd bottle. I definitely will re-buy this product again if I stop using the retnoid i was prescribed by the dermatologist.
